It was the beginning of August 2002 and I, my cousin Zdeněk and our grandfather we decided to go out on eels.
The whole morning we were busy preparing and at eight o´clock p.m. we went to the river to our favorite place. At eight thirty we had already cast and eagerly anticipated first shot. It came at nine o'clock. Swinger on my rod started to climb. "This is certainly eel", I thought. I waited until the swinger starts up and forcefully jammed. I felt a strong resistance and on the surface appeared huge eel body. After a brief struggle, we managed to get to shore. When we extricate hook with Zdenda, Grandpa suddenly exclaims: "fast, landing net!" We turned around and saw Grandpa, struggling with another "snake". We removed the following findings and it found that both have a 87 cm. Meanwhile it got dark and the confusion we heard the crash of swinger rod. Cousin, employed extracting eel barely catch rod. I hurried landing nets and soon found himself further, the third eel on shore. Measured while "only" 67 cm, but getting it into the bag was just as big a problem as its larger peers.
Then followed a marathon establishment and control of other eels. It ended with a wave of a magic wand like half an hour before midnight, when we last caught eels. Overall, for this night we caught 11 night river rulers in sizes od65 cm to 87 cm.
this unforgettable experience spoiled by the fact that I broke my new rod.
